Who's Maria, you ask? Aside from my new bestie, Dr. Maria Plekhanova is a Russian horticulturalist for whom this wonderfully tart and sweet yellow nectarine was named after when the initial seeds were brought back from Uzbekistan. A truly unique nectarine that we are very fortunate to have stumbled across thanks to our favorite stone fruit growers in Reedley, CA, the fine folks at Galpin Family Farms.
Our delicious jam starts with these Maria's Gold Nectarines from the Fresno Valley. To the mix, we add pure cane sugar, a little citrus pectin for added gelling and a generous splash of freshly squeezed lemon juice for a little zing to the flavor in this magically intoxicating combination.
