Who’s Maria, you ask? Aside from my new bestie, Dr. Maria Plekhanova was a Russian horticulturalist honored with the naming of this tart-sweet yellow nectarine—originally grown from seeds brought back from Uzbekistan. It’s a truly special fruit we were lucky to get our hands on, thanks to our friends at Andy's Orchards in Morgan Hill, CA.
This jam starts with fresh Maria’s Gold nectarines from the Fresno Valley, cooked down with pure cane sugar and just enough citrus pectin to set the texture without masking that bright, bold stone fruit flavor. It’s sweet, a little tangy, and totally addictive.
Perfect on toast, paired with cheeses, or straight off the spoon. You won’t forget Maria anytime soon.
